My friends laughed at me!

And asked why I had done it?

Am I really strange?

All I had done was show them the labels I had put on three baskets in our cloakroom cupboard.

Well when you have a husband who asks the same question each time he goes to the cupboard to get a hat or scarf or gloves - then this is a very sensible thing to do, or so I thought.

Do you label your baskets?
I mean the ones you are using for storing things or keeping things neat in a cupboard, not the ones you use to go shopping.

Later when it was pointed out to me by someone else that I had written "snoops" instead of "snoods" on my basket label I had to laugh as well.

Please tell me I am not the only person who labels their baskets.

  1. yes Sandra you are the only one ha ha ha but not the only with husbands that asks the same question while in the cloakroam. Definitely "stealing" the labeling idea might just take care of upcoming questions from the kids too - Doreen

    1. Doreen, If your kids are anything like mine they will probably know what you have in the basket better than you do.

  2. I love this! I am not organized enough yet to label items in the closet - but my mission this weekend is to label the toy bins in the playroom!

    1. Thank you Dizee. Oh the days of our playroom, I remember the boxes I labeled. The labelling was fine but the kids! Well they just put the things where they wanted but thank goodness mostly in the boxes even if not the right ones.

  3. You are not alone! I label my baskets also . . . and the shelves in the garage so EVERYONE knows where to put things back . . . and . . . and . . . and . . .

    1. Thank you Lisa, nice to know there are others like me. We moved to this house almost 3 years ago and my husband just looks at me like I'm mad when I say we should have labelled things in the garage. Every time he can't find something I remind him about that. But someday I might find time to do it.

  4. Umm, I love the idea, but getting to that point is well, just an idea. I find there are always more important things to do..

    1. Thanks for your comment and you are so right, always important other things to do that's why it takes me so long to get my house organised the way I would really love to.

  6. I don't use baskets so I don't label them, but I do label my kitchen cabinets in terms of where the various plates go so that my other half puts them in the right place once he;s emptied the dishwasher!

    1. Hi Carol, thanks for the comment.
I had to laugh and read your comment to my husband as I am always complaining to him about where things end up when he has emptied the dishwasher. how come they never can remember where to put the things then even when they have been the person to use the thing in the first place?

    2. Just realised it was your blog Carol that I was recommended just the other day because of two posts I had put up mentioning petite size clothing.

      Sandra's Ark: I am Petite

Sandra's Ark: What will I wear????

  10. Oh you're not the only one! :)

Everything has to have it's place! I put baskets in my fridge and label them and I label what's in the pitchers! It's helpful for guests (and my husband, ha!). Cute baskets!

  11. I label my storage baskets also. I cut the label from cardstock and paint it with blackboard paint. That way I can wipe them off when i want to store something else in them.

  14. Oh yes, you are not alone -- labels are great! The order of the baskets never changes and neither do the questions! Even better in our household -- pictures! I even took photos of the kitchen cupboards and posted them on the inside of the doors so I wouldn't find pans where I expected plates!

    1. Oh Charlene I thought about that for some places as I quite often have to go ask Fred where he has put something when he has emptied the dishwasher.

  15. Heck no, you're not the only one. I even labeled the drawers in my fridge. I don't like when people (hubs) puts the wrong stuff in the wrong drawers or boxes or shelves.... yes, they are all labled. I used Sharpies to label the linen closet shelves with "Queen Sheets", "Twin Sheets", "pillow cases". No excuses for not knowing which sheets will fit the bed.

  20. yes, I lable things. it's not the labling that is the strange thing for me. the strange thing is I never seem to put the 'things' in the box!
