I used to have a Samsung flip phone, chosen precisely because it was a flip phone and because it still showed through who was calling. Our sons have iphones and my husband has a Blackberry for work but never bothered with a mobile of his own (maybe that is proof of the fact that when he's away anywhere from us it is because of work). So my daughter & I were basically the only ones without smart phones but that didn't matter to me because I wasn't interested in a smart phone as I used my ipad more than anything else.
I did have a few problems with the Samsung I had though. It did not have speakerphone and I hated texting on it, it took me ages and was just awkward.
We lived in a different country from our kids for some of the time I had that phone and they used to always tell me to text more but I was a great fan of emailing so that worked for me instead.
Then last September I got an LG smart phone. My only stipulation was that the phone have a speakerphone or loudspeaker and it should be easier to text on.
I am still finding out how to do things on it and not very interested in using it for the internet or games etc. but the navigation app is handy.
However I do love the texting now as it is so much easier with a keypad and seeing the threads.
So just sitting here thinking in the hairdressers today about how much easier it is to text now that I have a phone that is better suited to that, making it a pleasure rather than a chore, I realised that to do most things in life it is easier and more convenient when we have the right equipment etc.
We know some people who became Christians recently and one of the things they need is a bible that is easy to understand and some simple help to get started in reading, understanding and studying the bible.
The right equippment also affects how I prepare Sunday School materials for church, because the better suited to the children's age and understanding the easier it is for the teacher to teach the lesson and the more effect this will have on the lives of these kids.
What about sharing the Gospel with others?
This is often something we find difficult to do because we feel we cannot explain it well ourselves, so why not use something well suited to that job?
There is an app that I got for the ipad called "Two Ways to Live Plus" (TWTL+) and it is very good with a simple layout but clear explanation of God's Love and His plan for our Salvation.
This is a screen from within the app, straightforward to use and easy on the eye.
Concise explanations on each page with simple illustrations.
Below is the app on the app store and of course there is no hindrance to any of us ipad lovers in getting it because it is FREE.
Just think how this could be used in lots of situations to help us do something that should be a pleasure for us and not a chore.
Interesting way for you to share about Salvation
My son is a pastor and he is the person who made me aware of this app because he thought it was good and wanted to pass on info. about a good resource.
I have not been compensated in any way by the makers of the app, this blog post is simply my way of letting you know of a good resource which in turn you can tell others about.
