How long can you be Happy? #100HappyDays Week 1

This week, on Tuesday, my niece and my daughter both decided to do the

CHALLENGE

When I saw this I immediately thought of an incident on Sunday evening coming home from church and how that could have changed our lives forever. But by God's Grace it was something we were very thankful and happy about.

On Sunday evening we were driving home on the same road on which we travel twice every Sunday to go from our home in Banbridge to the church we attend in Lurgan. The drive takes 20/25 mins depending on traffice but on Sunday evenings there is normally very little traffic on that road.

One part of the road has a few quite significant dips so that as you drive up towards one of these you have no real view ahead and the road is clearly signed to tell drivers about this in advance. So as we drove along in the dark around 8.30pm and came to the slight brow of a hill before one of these dips we suddenly saw several lights of cars coming towards us but as well as this we saw a set of lights coming towards us on our side of the road.

This is a country road with a very narrow footpath and hedges or walls etc. so usually no room to manoeuvre. A large lorry (truck for my American friends) was trying to overtake 3 or 4 cars and was still on the wrong side of the road; he had obviously ignored the signs about the dips in the road and also the road markings which clearly showed that no overtaking was allowed on that stretch of road.

The only thing my husband Fred could do was to swerve in to the side of the road as the lorry tried to cut back into his proper side in front of the lead car. Up until then there had been no break in the narrow footpath but at the exact place that we had to cut in there was a gap in the footpath and in the hedge because there was an entrance to something there.

Just enough room for our car to get in out of the way as the lorry skimmed past us.

Obviously God had brought us to the right spot at the right time and saved our lives.

This was a big thing in our lives that day that caused us to be happy about the outcome, but it also makes me think of the other smaller things everyday that we sometimes forget to be happy about.

This event was to do with us being thankful to God because of his hand of protection but so many other times we forget to be thankful for the things that make us happy so I thought I would join in on this challenge to recognize something each day which made me happy and not stop there but to thank God for that thing He has provided in my life.

 The Challenge

is to take a picture of something that makes you happy each day for 100 days and post it on facebook or twitter or google plus, etc.

I have chosen to put it on Facebook each day but also each Saturday I will do an update for the week on my blog.

1. TUESDAY

I was happy that one of my blog posts was featured in the Tuesdays with a Twist Blog Hop

2. WEDNESDAY

My smile coffee mug made me happy (the coffee too)

3. THURSDAY

Leftovers from Wednesday night's dinner meant no dinner to make tonight.

4. FRIDAY

I was happy and contented because it was Friday

5. SATURDAY

I was happy to have been able to help someone with somethings that I used to have to ask others to help me with.

Isn't that nice that she acknowledged the help, she didn't need to do that, but thank you's are always appreciated.

I had to say thank you myself last night when my husband sorted out the
"Man Drawer" in the kitchen & of course his actions had made me very happy

  2. I think as believers it is easier for us to be happy even under unhappy circumstances because we know He has our back. Thanks for sharing on Tuesdays With a Twist.

  6. What a great idea for a challenge! I love it :). I can't imagine how scared you must have been on Sunday! I'm so glad that everyone is okay. Other drivers make me so nervous, especially now driving around with my son in the car. Some people just think they are invincible and it puts others in danger. Thank you for linking up at the MaMade Blog Hop! :)

    1. Hi again Michelle, yes mostly as we drive we don't consider others and what can happen. God's protection was evident and we praise Him for that.
