10 Things the Cross Is for Us - A Dose of Encouragement

When we will ever come to an end of expressing our thoughts, Bible verses and thanks about the Cross?

Never! - not even when the Lord calls us Home to be with Him.

There are so many things that we could say about

the Cross

but I have chosen these

10 short simple thoughts

to encourage us all today.

The Cross Conquers Sin and Death

The Cross Displays God's Love

The Cross Reveals God's Mercy

The Cross Vanquishes Satan

The Cross Brings Peace

The Cross Brings our Redemption

The Cross Symbolises the Atonement for our Sin

The Cross is the Reflection of the

Father, Son and Holy Spirit

The Cross Brings us to our Knees

The Cross is the Centre Theme of the Bible

To finish I would like to leave you with the words of

Pastor D. P. Williams from Wales

as he encouraged others

  shortly before his death.

5 Best Quotes on Hymns + Free Printable - Coffee & Conversation

I am not a fan of QUOTES

In fact sometimes I get very annoyed at how people almost treat a quote
as more important than the Word of God

I actually wrote a blog post about Do We Really Need This Quote?

I'm taking a theme of HYMNS for this post, again looking for only quotes from people I would respect.

So in the list below I will quote

Not  Joel Osteen   but   J.C. Ryle

Not  Beth Moore   but   Joni Eareckson Tada

Not  Priscilla Shirer    but   Fanny Crosby

1.  J.C. Ryle

"Good hymns are an immense blessing to the Church.   They train people for heaven, where praise is one of the principal occupations."

2.  Joni Eareckson Tada

"What a way to learn great theology!
That's what comes to mind whenever
I sing these old hymns.
"And Can It Be" is like putting the doctrine of Salvation to music.
"Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing" is a melodic lesson in grace.
No wonder good hymns make for strong faith."

3.  Keith Getty
"Paul commands the Church to let the word of Christ dwell in us richly when we meet together, singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. It seems clear here that style is not the important issue as much as the depth of content."

4.  Fanny Crosby

"It seemed intended by the blessed providence of God that I should be blind all my life, and I thank him for the dispensation. If perfect earthly sight were offered me tomorrow I would not accept it. I might not have sung hymns to the praise of God if I had been distracted by the beautiful and interesting things about me."

5.  Kenneth W. Osbeck, 101 Hymn Stories: The Inspiring True Stories Behind 101 Favorite Hymns

"I would rather have written the hymns of Wesley's than to have the fame of all the kings that ever sat on earth; it is more glorious, it has more power in it."

One Hand Up Hallelujah - Songs for Kids

Do you find it hard to get visuals and recordings for different kids songs?

I have always found this a problem so I am sharing songs on the blog that I have used with children and providing you with

(Powerpoint or Picture or details of how you can make one)

(chords also available)

(mp3 or video to learn the song)

Then if you would like to download the visual of the song there will be a link provided to my creation, or I will direct you to where else you can find it.

There will also be links for PDF's Fred has created for the words and chords.

This month I am taking the theme of

The song I have chosen is

One Hand Up Hallelujah

A not well-known Easter (Palm Sunday) Song for kids but they will want to challenge adults to see who can get the clapping timing correct.

It is one of the easiest songs ever to learn as my kids and grandkids can tell anyone and then they will tell you it was written by me.

The song is so short and repetitive with a simple easy tune that not much effort in the visual side is needed in fact I taught it to kids for many many years without any visual at all.

So my husband and I went straight to producing a video a couple of years ago while we were doing other videos.  Then when we played it to our youngest (3 year old) granddaughter she immediately said "that's your song Nanny".

However not everyone will use singalong videos for their kids at church etc. so I have taken some of the pics from the powerpoint we created for the video for you to use.

You can Download a copy of this as a Powerpoint slide presentation for projecting or for printing out in A4 & Letter size HERE

Verse 1:

One hand up Hallelujah
Two hands up Praise the Lord
One hand up Hallelujah
Two hands up Praise the Lord

Praise the Lord
Praise the Lord
Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Praise the Lord

Praise the Lord
Praise the Lord
Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Praise the Lord

To Download a copy of these words with chords for Guitar or Piano

The children simply have to be able to lift one hand & then both hands.

Simple clapping which the kids love to master but it's a bit tricky so they enjoy the challenge

One hand up Hallelujah

Two hands up Praise the Lord
One hand up Hallelujah

Two hands up Praise the Lord

Praise the Lord
Praise the Lord

Hallelujah, Hallelujah, (no clapping)
Praise the Lord

Praise the Lord
Praise the Lord

Hallelujah, Hallelujah, (no clapping)
Praise the Lord

Special "Thank You" to my husband Fred who looks after the Recordings and the Chords

This was written by me and I allow anyone to use the video and the pics I have available.

I Hope you enjoy the song and this is a help to you.
