10 Things To Do About God's Promises - PLUS Free Printable - Coffee & Conversation

This is just a short blog post to remind you of many of the things God has promised and
to encourage you to hang on these promises at all times.

Some of the things God has promised
  • I Will Be With You
  • I Will Protect You
  • I Will Always Love You
  • I Will Give You Peace
  • I Will Hear Your Prayers
  • I Will Be Your Strength
  • I Will Answer You
  • I Will Provide For You
  • I Will Comfort You
  • I Will Never Leave You
  • I Will Abide In You
  • I Will Walk With You

Some of the Things The Bible Tells Us That God's Promises are

Great & Precious     -     2 Peter 1 v 3 & 4

"....His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue,
by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature...."

Yes & Amen     -     2 Corinthians 1 v 20

Better     -     Hebrews 8 v 6

"He [Jesus] is also Mediator of a better covenant, which was established on better promises."

Trustworthy     -     Hebrews 10 v 23

"Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful."

True     -     Numbers 23 v 19

Fullfilled by God's Power    -     Romans 4 v 20 - 21

"He [Abraham] did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God,
and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform."

There are 10 things we need to do because of God's Promises
  1. Thank God for His Promises
  2. Recognise & Learn God's Promises as we Read His Word
  3. Remember that many times God's Promises have Conditions
  4. Believe in God's Promises
  5. Pray with His Promises in mind
  6. Read the Bible with His Promises in mind
  7. Tell Others about God's Promises
  8. Help Others to Read & Understand His Promises
  9. Encourage Others to Trust in God's Promises
  10. Rejoice in God's Promises

So no matter what happens don't forget the Promises of God

and

read about them often in HIs Word.

Through His Promises we will remember His Love for us

But those Promises would never be worth remembering if if wasn't for
God Himself

so

Don't Forget the Promise Giver

The Promises are only Great
because of
God

Promises - We Can't Always See Them - A Dose of Encouragement

Not very long ago I read of a Canadian school teacher who on his 27th time reading through the Bible decided to take a note of all the promises he found there.
This took him a year and a half and he came up with a grand total of

8,810
PROMISES.

We are NOT going to look at all those promises!!!!

Although if you are interested in some of them you can have a look at
Bible Verses for  10 Great Promises of God.

or you can have a look at a reminder of many things God has Promised in Promises

However it got me thinking about this and I wondered how many times have we promised something
  • to others
  • to ourselves
  • to God

You know the things we have said:

Yes, yes, yes I promise!   -  when we are not really interested and just want to get on quickly to something else.

Of course I promise!

I Promise I really do!

I never promised!

Do any of those sound familiar?

Can any of us say we have never broken any of the promises we have made?

We just need to admit that we can't remember all the promises we have made in our lives and we probably don't remember if we made any yesterday.

Perhaps we speak too soon about things, or too quickly, or perhaps we don't take promises too seriously.

Perhaps we want to forget about a promise we made because we don't really want to be held to it.

Surprisingly we can forget that others have promised things too.

So thinking back to that 8,810 promised that were found in the Bible we can be sure that many of those were made by God and we should never forget about God's Promises.  In fact we should take some time to learn more about them.

Sometimes the reason we forget about people or things is because we can't always see them.   This can be the same for promises.

One promise that God made to everyone is easy to remember because God gave us a sign in the bible which is still repeated physically for all the generations since to see.

The Promise of the Rainbow from Genesis chapter 9 v 12 - 17

12 And God said: “This is the sign of the covenant which I make between Me and you, and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations:
13 I set My rainbow in the cloud, and it shall be for the sign of the covenant between Me and the earth.
14 It shall be, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the rainbow shall be seen in the cloud;
15 and I will remember My covenant which is between Me and you and every living creature of all flesh; the waters shall never again become a flood to destroy all flesh.
16 The rainbow shall be in the cloud, and I will look on it to remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.”
17 And God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant which I have established between Me and all flesh that is on the earth.”

When we know that God gave us this great reminder of His Promise then we know He intends to keep His promise.

This should encourage us to seek out more of the promises for us in the Bible and get to know more about them.

Then start remembering that

GOD KEEPS HIS PROMISES

even though

we can't always see them

Every morning as we have breakfast together Fred and I pray to thank God for the previous day and the things we are thankful for from that day.  Then we pray for family, friends and other needs we know about and end by asking for God's care and protection & wisdom.

We can pray this way because

we believe God's promises to us

and

because

God does not forget what He has said!

Because God is not like us who so easily forget.

We must look at God's Promises in the light of
WHO GOD IS
and not who we are.

The Rainbow or The Storm? - A Dose of Encouragement

I saw this phrase the other day

Count your rainbows not your thunderstorms.

But I passed on by without taking too much notice at the time.

Then later it just sprung back into my mind but I could not remember where I had seen it - if you know please leave me a comment so I can give the right credit to it.

It got me thinking about how we tend to go along

  smiling at the rainbows

    and

  frowning at the storms.

Then at times we may even forget to truly acknowledge the rainbows but
we get upset by the thunderstorms,
we get enraged at the thunderstorms,
we get cowered down by the thunderstorms.

Who or what has the power over us?

Is it the thunderstorm? - No!

God has the power over the thunderstorm as well as the rainbow.

So why do we get down?

In our Sunday School this month I have prepared the Theme of the Authority of Jesus and the 5 weeks are

 Authority of Jesus
       over Sin
            over Disease
                 over Nature
                      over Death
                           over Salvation

After having worked on this there is no way I should get enraged over natural thunderstorms or the storms the devil tries to throw at me.

I should face them through with the power of  Jesus

We need to remember the rainbow of promise that comes out of the storm.

We need to look past the storms to the One who has the authority and power over the storms.

The One who has given us all the encouragement we need in His Word.

The One who has promised to never leave us

The One who has promised to walk beside us

The One who has promised to hold us in His hands

The One who has promised to keep us safe

The One who has said to us "Fear Not"

God will not let the storms defeat us when we keep our trust in Him.

So let's go along smiling at the storms as well as the rainbows.

Because God's promises are mightier than any fears!

I love Arks - A Dose of Encouragement

I collect Noah's Arks,
  -  but I don't think there's a Flood coming!

Some people have joked with me about
"is there a flood coming?"

when they have seen my collection (or some of it)

 of Noah's Arks.

I have always loved arks and pictures of Arks but my collection really began when our daughter was about 8 or 9.

Linda went on a weekend away with a Christian organization called Girl Crusaders.  While she was away she saw a poster picture of an Ark and decided to buy it as a present for me.
On the journey home the corner got dog-eared and Linda was very disappointed but I love my picture.
It was put into a blue frame and has always been in view somewhere in our home ever since.

In our present home it sits on top of a bookshelf in the Sun Room.

Can you see the crease in the top right corner?

Well since then I have collected:

An Egg from America

On the Mantlepiece in the lounge

A Utensils Holder

On top of my Paper drawer set in my study

A Money Box & Snow Globe

On the bookshelves in my study

A Wall Hanging

In our guest room

A Decorative Plate, Beleek Biscuit Barrel, Silver Trinket Box & Decorative Tea Pot

All 4 of these have ended up on the large dresser that is now in our kitchen

A Photo Frame

On the corner edge of the kitchen worktop

Some Bags

On the back of the door of my study

A Memories Box

Which can be found in various locations

Cushions

On our various couches / settees

An Apron

Also on the back of the door in my study - used for crafting.

More Pictures

In various rooms

Plus a Clock

In the kitchen

A Wooden Carved Ark with Animals

When our oldest son went to Malawi for 3 months to work with a missionary couple he brought it back for me

and he had me in tears at this lovely gift.

The Ark has always been very special to me.

In the Ark there is safety  -  God's Protection
In the Ark there is compassion  -  God's Mercy
In the Ark there is forgiveness  -  God's Grace

The Ark is a symbol of Salvation and our salvation is in Jesus so the Ark is a symbol of Jesus.

When I was young and accepted God's Gift of Salvation I knew I was safe.  Even though I may not have understood all about God or Jesus or the Holy Spirit or the Bible; I still recognized the fact that I was safe with Jesus.

So even though some may joke about my Arks my friend Jennifer in Belgium saw things differently and has always referred to our home as the safe Ark.

Are you safe with Jesus?

Are you in the Ark which is Christ Jesus?

As a teenager I listened to songs by Len Magee and one of them asks the question

"Are you in the Ark, or are you outside?"

I want to encourage you today with some other words from that song

Oh don't hesitate
You'll be too late
His arms' open wide

there will come a time when it is too late but right now it's not!

So please consider that Question again

"Are you in the Ark, or are you outside?"

and but also with the fact that

You can be safe with Jesus,
He is the only one you can truly trust.
