I am not a fan of QUOTES

In fact often I can be heard complaining how people almost treat a quote
as more important than the Word of God

I actually wrote a blog post about Do We Really Need This Quote?

I'm taking a theme of the Bible this month on my blog so hence the Quotes on the Bible - NOT quotes from the Bible.

I'm looking at serious quotes from people I would respect.

So in the list below I will quote

Not  Benny Hinn   but   J.C. Ryle

Not  Greg Locke   but   Charles Spurgeon

Not  Mark Driscoll   but   Dwight L. Moody

1.  Charles Spurgeon

"Visit many good books, but live in the Bible."

2.  J.C. Ryle

"Knowledge of the Bible never comes by intuition. It can only be obtained by diligent, regular, daily, attentive reading."

3.  Dwight L. Moody

"The Bible will keep you from sin, or sin will keep you from the Bible."

10 Reasons to Praise God Every Day - Coffee & Conversation

There are so many more reasons to Praise God every Day than just these 10

especially when we think of all that happens to us during each minute of each day

BUT

Here I'll concentrate on 10 of those marvellous things that we know from His Word.

10 Biblical Reasons to Praise God Every Day

I know if you are reading this then you want to praise God and you have already been praising God and perhaps for a long time but it always does us good to focus ourselves at different times on specific aspects of God and how He is constantly involved in our lives.

1.     He has redeemed you  -  Romans 5 v 8

"But God demonstrates His own love toward us,
in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

2.     He promised you a home  -  John 14 v 3

"And if I go and prepare a place for you,
I will come again and receive you unto myself;
that where I am, there ye may be also."

3.     He loves you forever  -  Psalm 107 v 1

"Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good;
His love endures forever."

4.     He gives you the gift of salvation  -  Ephesians 2 v 8 - 9

"For by grace are you saved through faith;
and that not of yourselves:
it is the gift of God:
not of works lest any man should boast."

5.     He gave you His Word  -  2 Timothy 3 v 16 - 17

"All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable
for doctrine, for reproof, for correction,
for instruction in righteousness,
that the man of God may be perfect,
thoroughly equipped for all good works."

6.     He provides for all your needs  -  Philippians 4 v 19

"But my God shall supply all your need
according to His riches in glory
by Christ Jesus."

7.     He secured your Peace  -  Romans 5 v 1

"Therefore, having been justified by faith,
we have peace with God through
our Lord Jesus Christ."

8.     He is worthy of our Praise  -  Psalm 145 v 3

"Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised;
And His greatness is unsearchable."

9.     Praise brings us into the presence of God  -  Psalm 100 v 4

"Enter into His gates with thanksgiving
and into His courts with praise.
Be thankful to Him and bless His name."

10.    The Bible commands us to come to Praise God
            -  Psalm 150 v 6

"Let everything that hath breath praise the Lord.
Praise the Lord."

What a wonderful Psalm to finish off with, how could we not but praise Him as we read through it.

Here is my Choice for the
5 Best Quotes on the subject of

FAITH

I am not a fan of QUOTES

In fact sometimes I get very annoyed at how people almost treat a quote
as more important than the Word of God

I actually wrote a blog post about

However I do see that there are certain topics that there are some great quotes on from some very reliable people. This month I have been thinking about Thankfulness and decide to encourage you with some quotes around this.

There are many quotes from so many people on Thankfulness but I prefer to only refer to or recommend ones from people who I trust as standing firm on the Word of God.

So in the list below I will quote

Not  Joel Osteen   but   R.C. Sproul

Not  Beth Moore   but   Corrie Ten Boom

Not  Bill Johnson  but   William Gurnall

1.  Corrie Ten Boom

"Faith sees the invisible believes the unbelievable and receives the impossible"

2.  C.S. Lewis
"I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen: not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else"

3.  William Gurnall
"We must come to good works by faith, and not to faith by good works."

4.  Corrie Ten Boom  (yes a second one!)

5 Best Quotes on Hymns + Free Printable - Coffee & Conversation

I am not a fan of QUOTES

In fact sometimes I get very annoyed at how people almost treat a quote
as more important than the Word of God

I actually wrote a blog post about Do We Really Need This Quote?

I'm taking a theme of HYMNS for this post, again looking for only quotes from people I would respect.

So in the list below I will quote

Not  Joel Osteen   but   J.C. Ryle

Not  Beth Moore   but   Joni Eareckson Tada

Not  Priscilla Shirer    but   Fanny Crosby

1.  J.C. Ryle

"Good hymns are an immense blessing to the Church.   They train people for heaven, where praise is one of the principal occupations."

2.  Joni Eareckson Tada

"What a way to learn great theology!
That's what comes to mind whenever
I sing these old hymns.
"And Can It Be" is like putting the doctrine of Salvation to music.
"Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing" is a melodic lesson in grace.
No wonder good hymns make for strong faith."

3.  Keith Getty
"Paul commands the Church to let the word of Christ dwell in us richly when we meet together, singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. It seems clear here that style is not the important issue as much as the depth of content."

4.  Fanny Crosby

"It seemed intended by the blessed providence of God that I should be blind all my life, and I thank him for the dispensation. If perfect earthly sight were offered me tomorrow I would not accept it. I might not have sung hymns to the praise of God if I had been distracted by the beautiful and interesting things about me."

5.  Kenneth W. Osbeck, 101 Hymn Stories: The Inspiring True Stories Behind 101 Favorite Hymns

"I would rather have written the hymns of Wesley's than to have the fame of all the kings that ever sat on earth; it is more glorious, it has more power in it."
