Christian Songs for Kids - Dare to Be a Daniel

Some time ago I talked about not being able to find many powerpoint presentations to illustrate Christian Songs for Kids.

I had got to the point where I was making my own to use in our Church, Sunday School and an After School Bible Club our church ran in a nearby primary school each Monday.

NOW

I am going to share songs with you providing a

Visual
(Powerpoint or Picture or details of how you can make it)

Words
(chords also available)

Recording / Video
(to learn the song)

Then if you would like to download the visual of the song there will be a link provided to my creation, or I will direct you to where else you can find it.

Also don't forget you can go to the side bar on the right and sign up for an email reminder of my posts. Then you will know when the next song is posted.

Today we are on the Theme of

 Bible Characters

The song I have chosen is

Dare to Be a Daniel

This is a very short song based on the qualities of the Old Testament character Daniel.

Our children grew up singing it and now our grandchildren are enjoying this song too especially since their daddy was named after this person.

POWERPOINT

I made this presentation for projecting the words.

or

for printing out individual cards

ACTIONS

Dare to be a Daniel  -
Place hands in front with palms together to show prayer

Dare to stand alone  -  Stand to attention with arms straight down at your side

Dare to have a purpose firm  -  Point up with one hand

And Dare to make it known  -  Marching on the spot

RECORDING

Special "Thank You" to my husband Fred who looks after the Recordings and Chords

Notes:

The words and music for this were written by P.P. Bliss

The chorus we sang for so many years is apparently simply the chorus to a song P.P. Bliss wrote which had 4 verses and was named after the first line of the song - "Standing by a Purpose True"

You can find out more about it at  Hymnary.org

Why not Pin this for future use:-

I Hope you enjoy the song and this is a help to you.

Lamentations 3 v 22-23 Memorizing the Bible

I could never do it!

          Do what?

Memorize a chapter of one of the Books of the Bible!

Yeah that's not so easy,  BUT  you can learn a verse of the Bible.

Let's look at one of the books of the Old Testament.

Have you read much from the book of Lamentations?

Many people think it will be very depressing to read so they kind of try to ignore it.

However there are 2 verses found there which are very special chapter 3 v 22-23

Our challenge today is to memorize these two verses.

Most people think they could never manage to memorize something from "boring" book of the Bible but is it that boring?  Have you read it to actually find out.  These two verses are not boring so let's have a go at earning them.

"The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases,

His mercies never come to an end;

they are new every morning;

great is your faithfulness."

So in memorizing these 2 verses we will look at 4 things:
  • Memorising Tips
  • Some Freebies to help you.

Memorising Tips
If you read the Top 10 Ways to Learn Scripture you will see that I give 10 tips to help in this process but we don't have to use all 10 of them on each verse - just the ones that suit best with the verse.

For Lamentations 3 v 22-23
I'm going to advise using tips 1, 2, 3, 8 & 9

1.  Read the verse often, every day, multiple times in the day.

Leave a bookmark in your bible and every time you go past it grab the bible and open at the verse etc.  (you will pick up other ideas later in this post).

Reading and repeating somethings over and over is the natural way to get it into your head.

With this verse it is obvious to think of it as 4 similar pieces of information regarding God.

"The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases,

His mercies never come to an end;

they are new every morning;

great is your faithfulness."

2.  Write out the verse several times.

Why?  Because he action of  WRITING  helps us learn anything.

Each line of this verse is very similar in that they each note a great attribute of God

So as you write it put each of the four facts on a new line and learn it as 4 similar facts

3.  Feel the excitement of a verse that is an exaltation to praise the Lord.

In Lamentations 3 v 22-23 we have excitement in the knowledge that
  • God's Love never stops
  • God's mercy never ends
  • His love and mercy are new each day
Then how could it end except in the praise of His Great faithfulness.

We also have the similar phrasing of each line to help us.

8.  Make it easy to see the verse clearly and regularly each day.

In no.1 above I mentioned your bible and a bookmark

but

we cannot have our Bible at hand every moment of the day so if you feel you need frequent readings of the verse like pop-up reminders then do the following:

Get a post-it pad and write the verse out clearly on it then tear off the post-it and stick it on
  • the mirror you will use first thing each morning and last thing each night
  • the front cover of your Bible
  • the front cover of the book you are currently reading
  • the door of the fridge
  • the inside of the door of the cupboard where you go to get your favourite mug for that cup of coffee

9.  Make or use Bible Verse Graphics

The picture of the words of Lamentations 3 v 22-23 near the start of this post is an example of a Bible Verse Graphic.

A picture or background with the words written on it clearly.
By making these yourself you will learn as you create them.

or

by using ones made for you that you keep close to hand
(see my freebies)

I post a bible verse graphic every morning on my
so if you want to be encouraged by a verse each day or have a graphic you can Share to your timeline or Save in Facebook then click through to my Facebook Page and be sure to like and follow the page to see those graphics in your feed each day.

or Colouring Pages

While colouring in a Bible Verse Page you will be spending time around the words and this also helps to learn the verse.

or Phone Screensavers / Wallpaper

What better use of your phone - to keep that verse in front of you each time you go to check your messages.

For this you will need it to be a suitable portrait shape and size so most of the normal verse graphics you see will not suit.

I have a few verses made out for screen savers & you can download them from

I've also prepared a playlist of Short Songs to memorize Scripture on YouTube:

FINALLY

Some Freebies to help you.

Don't forget that many of my posts on the Blog have free downloads in which are all listed in my

specifically for Lamentations 3 v 22-23 I have

Bible Verse graphics of the verse

Word Search Puzzle of the verse

also that's where you will find the phone screen savers for some verses.

Memorizing The Lord's Prayer + Free Printable - Coffee & Conversation

Have you heard of the Lord's Prayer?

Have you ever recited the Lord's Prayer?

Have you ever read the Lord's Prayer in the Bible?

Well let's make
Coffee & Conversation
today
 into a cuppa with the
Lord's Prayer!

I'm offering this Free Printable of the Words of the Lord's Prayer as a resource to help you to memorize the Lord's Prayer or to give to someone else to help them to learn this prayer.

It is one of my assortment of free printables which can be found in my Resource Library

The Lord's Prayer

We find the Lord's Prayer in 2 of the Gospels

Matthew ch 6 v 9 - 13

and

Luke ch 11 v 1 - 4

Jesus gave the disciples these words to pray as a great example of how to pray, as a template of prayer and also as a prayer.

It reminds us to
  • acknowledge who God is
  • bring our petitions to Him
  • seek forgiveness for our sins
  • ask for help and guidance
  • seek protection and to recognise evil
  • come to God in adoration of Him
plus so much more that is too much to cover here in this short blog post.

Brief Tips to help you learn the Lord's Prayer

  1. The Lord's Prayer printable is available to download in both A4 and Letter size.  So it can be used to help you memorize this gift that the Lord Jesus gave us to come before God the Father.
  2. Break it up into 3 sections, the first 5 lines about God, the next 6 lines about our requests, the last 4 lines about praising God
  3. Then break it up further into individual lines to learn off small amounts within each section and lead on to learning each full section.
  4. Read it through in it's entirety at the start and at the end every time you spend some time to learn it. This will help with the placement in your mind of all of it.
  5. Print out 3 copies and actually cut one copy up into the 3 sections and then another copy up into all the individual lines and then keep one of the full prayer to check as you practice putting the sections or individual lines into place together.
  6. Make it a challenge to memorize it. You can even print out a 4th copy & make it into a puzzle of the whole prayer by cutting out each individual word.

5 Best Quotes on Prayer + Free Printable - Coffee & Conversation

Here is my choice for the
5 Best Quotes on the subject of

PRAYER

I am not a fan of QUOTES

In fact sometimes I get very annoyed at how people almost treat a quote
 as more important than the
Word of God

I actually wrote a blog post about Do We Really Need This Quote?

However I do see that there are certain topics that there are some great quotes on from some very reliable people. This month of course we are thinking about PRAYER so let's get encouraged with some quotes around this.

There are many quotes from so many people on the subject of Prayer but I prefer to only refer to or recommend ones from people who I trust as standing firm on the Word of God.

So in the list below I will quote

Not  Lisa Bevere   but   John Bunyan

Not  Andy Stanley   but   Andrew Murray

Not  Joyce Meyer   but   Charles Spurgeon

1.  John Bunyan

"In prayer it is better to have a heart without words than words without a heart"

2.  Oswald Chambers

"Prayer does not fit us for the greater work;  Prayer is the greater work."

3.  Andrew Murray

"Think of what He can do and how He delights to hear the prayers of His redeemed people.  Think of your place and privilege in Christ, and expect great things!"

Have you read the 5 Best Quotes on Prayer?

4.  C.S. Lewis

"I pray because I'm helpless.  I pray because the need flows out of me all the time, waking and sleeping.  It doesn't change God.  It changes me."

5.  Charles Spurgeon

"True prayer is neither a mere mental exercise nor a vocal performance.  It is far deeper than that - it is a spiritual transaction with the Creator of Heaven and Earth."
