Christian songs for Kids - Love One Another like Sister & Brother

Do you find it hard to get visuals and recordings for different kids songs?

I have always found this a problem so I am now sharing songs that I have used with children providing you with

Visuals
Powerpoint or Picture
or details of how you can make one

Words
Chords also available

Recording
mp3 or video to learn the song

Then if you would like to download the visual of the song there will be a link provided to my creation, or I will direct you to where else you can find it.

This month I am taking the theme of

 LOVE

It is very important that our children grow up knowing about the Love of God from an early age and also the command of God that we should all love one another because God loves us.

The song I have chosen is

Love One Another like Sister & Brother

Not exactly sure where I first learnt this one but I do know I have been teaching it to children for many years.

It has an easy, catchy tune and very simple actions

The song teaches children that they should love everyone like family and the reason we need to do this is because God wants us to live together in love and care about each other and we learn how to love others from the way He loves us.

VISUAL

Some years ago I started to make Powerpoint Presentations of the many Kids songs I would sing with Kids in church, Sunday School and in Schools and then more recently Fred & I have been making videos using the graphics I had previously used or upgrades of them.

These are the pictures from the Powerpoint Presentation for Love One Another Like Sister & Brother

These can be printed out on cards (A4 or Letter size) and using this type of visual gives me the opportunity to involve 2 children in holding up the cards or I can hold one in each hand.

Download them HERE

What are Good Friends? + Free Friends Rhyme - Coffee & Conversation

What are Friends?

What are GOOD Friends?

Are you blessed with Good Friends?

I know I am.

And I know that in the different places I have lived in the world God has always provided good friends.

One example from America was the person who invited my three kids and myself for a meal after our first Sunday in the church when we had only been in the country for 2 weeks & Fred was in Germany with work.  She had just met me and did this for us even though she already had another couple and another family of four coming for dinner.
Throughout our 3 years there this friend was always looking out for us and willing to have our kids stay over to let us go on a special weekend.

One example from Belgium was the person who called me up after her husband had met my husband Fred at church and arranged to take me for coffee and show me around the area, then they also took us to a homegroup and many more friendships grew from that.

Then there are the friends from our younger years who we may not see too often but they are still good friends and we can pick up on the friendship even after a long break between seeing them.

Some years ago I started to make Name Rhymes and sell them at craft fairs along with some other items so today I thought I would include one to help to describe what Good Friends are.

So again I ask

Are you blessed with Good Friends?

Are you thankful to them?

Are you thankful to God for providing good friends?

Some say that to have good friends, you yourself, need to be a good friend.

I believe that we shouldn't be a good friend to have a good friend in return but we should simply do as God would want us to do and

just be that good friend regardless of any benefits to ourselves.

Let's do it!
Come on we can do it!

Christmas is a Time of Joy - Christmas Songs for Kids

Do you find it hard to get visuals and recordings for different kids songs?

I have always found this a problem so I am sharing songs on the blog that I have used with children and providing you with

Visuals
(Powerpoint or Picture or details of how you can make one)

Words
(chords also available)

Recordings
(mp3 or video to learn the song)

There will also be links for PDF's Fred has created for the words and chords.

This month I am taking the theme of

CHRISTMAS

The song I have chosen is

Christmas is a Time of Joy

Everyone knows the tune of Jesus Loves Me so that means this will be an easy song to learn.

Many many years ago we worked with CEF Good News Clubs and this was one of the Christmas songs they gave us visuals for and so we learned a simple jolly song for kids and have used it in different kids meetings in schools and churches and homes for several years.

We are planning to take this as one of the 2 Kids Christmas Songs that will be included in our second

 Songs for Christmas

Last year Fred & I went live on Facebook each night to get our friends and followers to sing
Christmas Songs with us and have a little laugh as things don't always go as planned
or we just had a happy memory of a song.
And plans are in progress for the same this year.

You can see all those live videos plus other post and videos at

VISUALS

This is the verse

and then we would flip it over for the chorus printed on the back

POWERPOINT

In later years with more opportunity to use projection on screens I designed powerpoints and pictures

You can Download a copy of these two pictures for printing out HERE

WORDS

Christmas is a time of Joy
Not because of gifts and toys
But because God gave His Son
To redeem us everyone

Yes God has given
Yes God has given
Yes God has given
His Son for you and me.

You can Download a copy of these words with chords for guitar and piano HERE

ACTIONS

We don't use actions in this one except to clap in the second part of the song.

RECORDING

You can find the recording of this song on the video below from

Notes:
I believe this was written by someone in Child Evangelism Fellowship many years ago but I don't think it is available as a printed song by them now.

I Hope you enjoy the song and this is a help to you.

10 Things to Thank & Praise God for that will Encourage Your Heart - Coffee & Conversation

Do you want to be encouraged?

Do you want to encourage others?

Let's have a little thought around how we can use these
10 thoughts for Encouragement.

Do you want to grab a coffee first but don't forget to come back?

Here's what we need to remember and to share with others

1. His Everlasting Love

2. His Abundant Grace

3. His Great & Tender Mercy

Psalm 145 v 8-9

The Lord is gracious and full of compassion, slow to anger and great in mercy.
The Lord is good to all, and His tender mercies are over all His works.

4. His Powerful Gospel

1 Thessalonians 1 v 5

For our gospel did not come to you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit and in much assurance, as you know what kind of men we were among you for your sake.

5. His Blessed Comfort

6. His Sending Strength

Psalm 71 v 16

I will go in the strength of the Lord God: I will make mention of Your righteousness, of Yours only

7. His Plan of Salvation

God’s Plan of Salvation from the book of Romans:

Romans 3:23 – For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

Romans 6:23 – The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 10:9-10 – If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.

Romans 10:13 – For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

 8. His Unfailing compassion

 9. His Cleansing Forgiveness

There is a Green Hill Far Away - A Hymn of Encouragement

I was born in the city of Londonderry, Northern Ireland and that means I have a hometown that is famous for various things.
  • It is a walled city
  • There was a siege in 1689
  • For political reasons it now has to be referred to as as both Londonderry and Derry on the news.
  • It has produced many well-known song writers

Perhaps the one who wrote most pieces was actually the Hymn Writer and Poet
Mrs Cecil Frances Alexander

One of her hymns is a great one for Easter Time and especially for Good Friday

There is a Green Hill Far Away

When this was first published in 1848 it was in a selection of "Hymns for Little Children" and in various hymn books it has been classified in the children's sections.

Hymnology Archive

Each verse is a great tool for teaching young children about the sacrifice Christ made for us and can be said to have been based around various verses of scripture including  John 3 v 16

and  Romans 5 v 8

Mrs Cecil Frances Alexander was the wife of  William Alexander who was the Bishop of Londonderry and later became the Archbishop of Armagh.

The Bishop was based in St. Columb's Cathedral which along with their home sat within the Walls of Londonderry and outside those walls Mrs Alexander would have had a view of the hills around the city which would have reminded her of the hill on which her saviour died.  Hence these lovely words were penned:

There is a green hill far away,
Without a city wall,
Where the dear Lord was crucified
Who died to save us all.

We may not know, we cannot tell,
What pains he had to bear,
But we believe it was for us
He hung and suffered there.

He died that we might be forgiven,
He died to make us good;
That we might go at last to heaven,
Saved by his precious Blood.

There was no other good enough
To pay the price of sin;
He only could unlock the gate
Of heaven, and let us in.

O dearly, dearly has he loved,
And we must love him too,
And trust in his redeeming Blood,
And try his works to do.

and because of the short verses of 4 lines each would have been easily remembered by everyone.

So we have a great hymn sung to a peaceful tune that is a great reminder of Good Friday and in fact a good reminder everyday of the love of Jesus.
